Na miejscu spotkał się z przedstawicielami firm, które inwestują w Illinois, w tym z Caterpillar, które znajduje się w Peorii, a globalnie zatrudnia 105 tys, pracowników. Połowa przychodów chińskiego Caterpillar pochodzi ze sprzedaży produktów tej firmy, które wytwarzane są w Stanach.
Dan Rutherford pracował przed objęciem stanowiska skarbnika jako manager ds. międzynarodowych w firmie Fortune 100. Był odpowiedzialny za działania firmy na rynkach w Ameryce Łacińskiej, Europie i Azji i wielokrotnie odwiedzał wtedy Chiny.
Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford Returns from Economic Development Trip to China
Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford has returned from China after a two-week, non-taxpayer funded trip to expand economic development opportunities and encourage Chinese business leaders to invest in Illinois.
Rutherford paid for his own flight to China and was hosted by the Chinese People's Institute for Foreign Affairs during his various meetings and events.
“It is important to continue building strong business relationships in China. China is one of the world’s fastest growing economies with consistently large growth rates over the past thirty years,” Rutherford said.
Rutherford met with several Illinois-based companies with operations in China including Peoria-based Caterpillar who employ 105,000 people globally. Half of the revenue generated by Caterpillar’s Chinese division is from products imported from the United States. Illinois exports $4.9 billion annually to China making them our second-largest trading partner.
Rutherford previously worked as international vice president for the Fortune 100 service company ServiceMaster. He was responsible for the company’s global expansion in Latin America, Europe and Asia and has visited China multiple times.
