Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford Honored to Attend Polish Constitution Day Festivities

Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is thankful for the honor to participate in Chicago’s 120th Annual Polish Constitution Day festivities.
The Polish Constitution is noteworthy in that it was the first democratic constitution of any European country and the second one in the world after the U.S. Constitution. This year marks the 220th anniversary of the signing of the Polish Constitution.
Prior to the parade, Rutherford participated in the wreath laying ceremony at the General Thaddeus Kosciuszko monument located near Solidarity and Lake Shore Drive and the pre-parade reception at the Chicago Hilton and Towers.
“The number of events I’ve done over the years with the Polish National Alliance, my friendships in Illinois' Polish communities, and my visits to the country of Poland a number of times have all provided me great respect for Polish people. Since the early days of the United States, Polish people have contributed richly to our society -- General Kosciuszko is just one example of this. I am honored to be treasurer of a state with such wonderful diversity and grateful for the opportunity to participate in these festivities,” Rutherford said.
